Extra Cheesy Baked Macaroni

Ingredients

  • 16 oz Luxury Elbow Macaroni
  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 cups (8 oz) shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 cup (4 oz) shredded Swiss cheese
  • ½ cup bread crumbs, optional

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F. Cook macaroni according to package directions.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, over medium heat, melt margarine; stir in flour, salt and pepper.
  3. Gradually stir in milk. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Remove from heat.
  4. Add 1-1/2 cups cheddar cheese; stir until melted. Stir in pasta. Spoon half of macaroni mixture into a greased 13 x 9-inch baking dish; top with Swiss cheese, remaining macaroni mixture then remaining Cheddar cheese.
  5. Bake uncovered 30 minutes or until bubbly.
  6. Sprinkle bread crumbs on top before baking.
